“TRADE WINDS TO SUCCESS”
About Trade Winds: Trade Winds to Success provides pre-trades training and support
to Indigenous people in Alberta, to secure employment and journeyperson status in the
construction trades, leading to economic self-sufficiency. Trade Winds is the only
training organization in Alberta designed to help Indigenous individuals overcome
barriers to entering and succeeding in the trades.
Peyakoskan Energy exemplifies the spirit of collaboration and empowerment within our
Indigenous communities. By supporting another Indigenous organization as their charity
of choice, they're not just harnessing the power of the sun; they're illuminating the path
to sustainable growth and self-determination. This partnership underscores the
importance of investing in each other’s success and creating a brighter future together.
WOMEN BUILDING FUTURES (WBF)
Women Building Futures is a non-profit organization that offers free skills training and
support services to women and gender-diverse individuals who want to enter careers in
the skilled trades, trucking and related fields. We surround women with the support they
need to succeed.
Founded in Edmonton, Alberta, in 1998, WBF offers training programs and support
services across Alberta and are growing their impact in Saskatchewan and Ontario.
WBF connects unemployed women and gender-diverse individuals as well as those
working multiple jobs to make ends meet, with higher-paying careers in trades,
trucking, and related fields.
WBF helps remove common barriers to financial independence. These barriers include
employment training, access to affordable housing, academic and personal readiness,
access to affordable childcare and more.
WBF offers programs and support services for women to explore, train, and connect to
careers that pay above a living wage.
